In the articles lately, I just want to clarify that the unsung heros of Lisa’s death were the compassionate individuals from LAOR. When I made the decision to donate Lisa’s organs so others could live – it was my decision alone – she had paved the way for 18years. She always had wanted to donate her body to the A & P lab at the University of Puget Sound – but since she died so young, and could not donate organs and her body, I made the decision to give others life. the doctors and nurses and social workers from LAOR from Maggie to David to Yillian never questioned my relationship with Lisa – and I know that it is overlooked in the articles.. BUT please know that this organization is amazing and cared so much for Lisa and us as a family – and they are SEPARATE from Jackson Memorial. They made the tragedy bearable on some level because they did recognize us as partners, let me sign the consents and listened to me about Lisa medical history, social history etc and I knew once she was given over to their care she was well cared for. So please don’t confuse the horrible treatment we got at JMH with the organ donation individuals who were amazing people at such a hard time.
