bush’s last day 1.20.09
a shirt that I have worn for over a year now
a bumper sticker on my car for months
now it has come to pass – Bush is no longer the leader of America
Obama has promised that WE are all equal
that a hand will be outstretched if the other is unclenched
not only do I hold hope that those 1138 rights straight couples have bestowed upon them
will be extended to ALL of us, that my sister, my brother and I will not be second class citizens
But it is not just about my rights, can we come together as a nation and seek peace
after these horrible 8 years that have past?
Will we as a nation be able to stand up and remember the struggles of those that came before us
whether we are talking about our founding fathers, MLK, Harvey Milk and so many others
for it is our differences which bring us all closer
so my prayer today that 4 years from today, all my G/L/B/T brothers and sisters
will not be second class citizens any longer – amen

“for it is our differences which bring us all closer” when i read this i got chills. Because it is so utterly true. Its sad that it took so long for many to figure this out (myself included). For so long people have been persecuted for their differences. And now, it is these same differences which unite us with one common goal. This said perfectly in one sentence.
